Mountain biking is a sport that cannot easily be described. It is a notch above bicycling. Many of us have been riding bicycles for a lifetime, and MB is a new dimension on the theme. Several years ago, I was introduced to mountain biking by a good friend from my IBM days, Brad Beitel, near his place in Lake Tahoe. I must say that the experience of a mountainous landscape of incredible beauty, riding a new type of bike, a mountain bicycle, with a very wide range of gears, knobby tires and shocks, and the thrill and challenge of going up and down steep hills and trails blew me away! WOW! This experience cannot be described, it has to be felt!

At work at Quantum, we have a group of avid mountain bikers who enjoy going to the trails together and sharing the experience on a weekly basis during the long days of the summer months. As soon as Daylight Saving Time goes live, the group of sometimes 10 or 12 enthusiastic "pedalers" head for the mountains after work for an exhilarating taste of mountain bike riding among the many wonderful trails among the hills and mountains that surround Silicon Valley.
