The Volcán de Fuego de Colima is still very much an active volcano. After getting much closer to the volcano at Comala, we asked a young Mexican driver to take us as close as anybody can get to the base of the volcano. We drove through a narrow country road until the Mexican Army had erected a barricade prohibiting traffic beyond this point.

Even though the crater was surrounded by vapor clouds most of the time, we were able to get some pictures that give some idea of this mightly natural phenomenon.
