Comala is a small town much closer to the live volcano than the city of Colima. Here we sat in a café across from the main plaza to have some beer and free finger food, while competing mariachis were playing their music, within earshot of each other. It was like listening to traditional Mexican music "in stereo", except each speaker was playing a different song. Across the street, on the plaza itself, many musicians were rehearsing their mariachi tunes. We were told that Comala is famous for its mariachi bands.
