Below are some pictures of our visit to Caleta Partida, a volcanic crater and heaven of an anchorage, located between Isla Espiritu Santo and Isla Partida. At the Caleta Partida anchorage, we met Tint and Dave, sailing on their trailerable tri-maran "PRIME DIRECTIVE" (see picture below). They came over for dinner on "SIESTA" the night before they sailed on to Loreto. Tint and Dave participated in the Haha, but we had not met them until this point. (Remember, there were over 100 boats in this event! ) Tint is originally from Burma, and the two of them make a charming couple. We enjoyed their company very much. While aboard, they even sent an email to their friends using "SIESTA" 's wireless email system. They told us that they had trailered their boat to San Diego from San Francisco the day before the Baja Haha was to start. They assembled the 31 foot boat and were off with the fleet. At one time, they were almost 100 miles offshore! Although their quarters are not quite as comfortable as ours, (they do not have refrigeration, for example), they were well equipped and were having a great time. They planned to get to Loreto in two more days, and trailer their boat back to the Bay Area, in time to get back to work within their allotted vacation plans. We dinghied through the shallow pass separating Isla Partida from Isla Espiritu Santo. And we visited La Candelera, another protected bay in Isla Espiritu Santo, where we say a small campsite and kayaks for vacationers, who, we were told, were ferried from the mainland and left to camp in tents for several days. The views were simply stunning.
