This information was published exactly as submitted by the author, our Class of '62 "El Supremo Organizer" Otalio Soca, untouched by human hands! Be patient. My dearest friends, thank you to all for making October 13th a wonderful
time full of great love and frienship.
Now lets get down to the fun part.
This is for those that did not attend and cannot figure out who is who after
47 years.
LEFT TO RIGHT. Nancy Kress, Ignacio (Nachi) Suarez, Fernando Capablanca,
Mariita Garcia Kohly (Mullen) (behind Mariita, hiding-Talo Soca), Coky
Mallet, Ruben Ortiz and Juan Santalla, Class 1961. (This PIC is provided by
Coky's camera, cannot remember who took the PIC).
Scene in the bar where the locals were singing and dancing and drinking. We
sat outside en un portal al aire libre adjoining the bar where we
were listening to the music and admiring the dancing. We drank and conversed
a lot prior to dinner. Lots of hugs and emotional embraces. It was hard to
get everyone to move into the restaurant to start our dinner. And along with
us en el portal al aire libre, we had some regular local Cubans
playing domino which they do at this restaurant all the time.
Edgardo Marill the greatest Tech guy in Ruston as usual taking PICS (Please
check his web page the PIC shall be up soon enough). Everyone just carrying
on, checking the menu, talking and talking. Great Fun.
Juan Santalla (class 61 and great friend of Ruben Ortiz) and Ana Maria
Capablanca chatting. We had 25 people attending and we had the seats
arranged in a U type format. It was hard to get these Rustonians to settle
down and sit, since everyone was carrying on with old stories.
Rafael Valiente, Talo Soca y Coky Mallet, who is forever nice to
everyone (Rafa still fits into his Ruston Basketball Uniform-that is after
midnight).
Far Left (Paul Michael, great partner and husband to Coky Mallet), Larry
Levine and Nancy Kress (Levine), Sonia de Los Heros (I could not believe my
eyes how much she has changed and still beutiful as ever), Ruben Ortiz (flew
in all the way from Puerto Rico), Sonia's mother (classy and fun lady what a
combo), and Sandra de los Heros, who follows in the tradition of beautiful
Heros Cuban women.
Sweetest Daisy and Edgardo Marill, Uva de Aragon (always ready to be part of
the team, steady as she goes), the young Mariita Garcia Kohly (Mullen) with
Larry Mullen her attractive husband
Left - Tall and friendly Larry and Nancy Kress Levine, Right side: Paul
Michael (H to Coky) and Super Nice Tom Mullen (H to Mariita)
Larry Levine, Rafa Valiente (with all his gold medals-what a Sportsman, and
beautiful Nancy Kress Levine. Some of us have not changed. Nancy looks the
same as she did in Kindergarten. How does she do it?
Juan Santalla (61), Isabel and Ruben Ortiz, married for 150 years, with
lots of new stories from P.R.
Fernando and Ana Maria Capablanca, married for 250 years (A.M. is a very
attractive and compasionate woman) with Juan Satalla's daughter (a young
gal...who could not believe the energy of these OLD Rustonians...She was so
impressed with the group and its enthusiasm). By the way,. Fernando still
collects small cars. Cannot wait to see his collection.
Talo Soca, Ruben Ortiz, Fernando Capablanca and Edgardo Marill. Just like
the old times, but just slightly different.
Nachi Suarez, center stage, flanked by Ruben Ortiz and Juan Santalla and
Rafael Valiente. Please notice all the women surrounding Nachi, Nothing
has changed. What does he know that I do not know?
Talo and Fernando Capablanca (We still have it...but the real question is
what is it that we have? !!!!) Perhaps good memories that we liked each
other then and now.

Following day on Sunday the 14th, Edgardo and Daisy Marill, Talo Soca -
having a delicious dinner in the Keys. Edgardo picked up the tab. I said:
"Next time it is my treat". Hope we can all have a great party together in
the Keys Kayaking, etc. Edgardo is a great host and Daisy makes great Cuban
coffee. And they love to have friends visit, too. I had a great time with
them. I did not want to leave.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Finally, Bea and I had a ball at our reunion.......It was a great evening.
We missed our Ruston friends that could not make it this time. Many of our
conversation was about the people that were not there that evening. Thus,
you were all in our thoughts.
And as always,
La amistad de mis amigos del Ruston es uno de los regalos mas preciosos que he recibio en mi vida.... Talo
PS. I have attached several PICS that were handed out to our friends at the
dinnner. See if you can tell who is who?????? I think I saw Helen
(Sprit) Motion in one of them.
