Stargazer is a CSY 44 WO seen here sailing off the coast of California. Its stern has been modified to be a scoop-type for easier boarding and a bit more waterline under sail. For more information on this stern modification project, click here. Below, you can see POGO II, which also had its stern modified with a sugar scoop design. POGO II's work was done at the Pedro Miguel Yacht Club, in the Panamá Canal.
If you want to know the boat name for any boat pictured above, right click on each picture's properties. The "walk-over" design is the "bread and butter" production boat in the CSY line. Many of these boats were built, and most were initially under charter before reverting to their real owners. The layout: These boats are distinctive, strong, and very comfortable to cruise in. With their cutter rig and conservative sail plan, they are amazingly easy to handle short-handed. Their quality and reputation for strength and durability makes a statement about all boats designed and built by CSY in the late seventies and early eighties. Below are some interior shots of the beautiful boat Girl Friday, a great example of a walk-over 44' design. Each CSY 44'design, walk-over, walk-thru and pilothouse has its own strong points, depending of the type of cruising done, but all have a common pedigree of outstanding construction and durability.
